MANILA, (PNA) — The Philippine Health Insurance (Philhealth) will provide benefits to victims of the magnitude 7.2 earthquake that struck Central Visayas last week, a Palace official said.
“Benefits shall cover for hospitalization and for outpatient surgical treatment and procedures accorded to all affected. They will issue the appropriate guidelines at the soonest possible time,” Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Abigail Valte said in a statement.
Those covered include residents of Bohol and Cebu, the two areas declared under a state of calamity.
The government has intensified its relief efforts for the affected families.
As of Sunday morning, assistance extended to affected families amount to P8.05 million comprised of food and non-food relief items from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
Valte earlier said relief operations will continue until normalcy returns to all areas affected by the tremor.
