MOSCOW, (PNA/Itar-Tass) — Russia’s unemployment rate went up to 5.3 percent in September as compared to 5.2 percent in the preceding month, the Russian State Statistics Service says.
According to preliminary estimates of a sample survey, four million of Russia’s able-bodied population classified themselves as jobless in September 2013.
As many as 0.9 million Russians were officially registered as unemployed, including 0.7 million who received unemployment benefits.
In September 2013, the total number of Russia’s able-bodied population was estimated at 75.8 million people, or about 53 percent of the country’s total population.
