ZAMBOANGA CITY, (PNA)–The City Health Office (CHO) has conducted immunization for the elderly to protect them from diseases while staying at the evacuation centers here.
More than 100,000 individuals have been displaced by the standoff which started last September 9 when hundreds of Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) rebels infiltrated this city.
City Health Officer Dr. Rodelin Agbulos said the elderly were injected with pneumococcal and anti-flu vaccines.
He said they would also vaccinate other evacuees aside from the elderly.
He said vaccines were from the Department of Health (DOH).
Earlier, the City Health Office had vaccinated the children at the evacuation centers against measles.
The City Health Office, DOH, Philippine Red Cross (PRC) and other concerned stakeholders maintain health stations in the different evacuation centers to look after the evacuees.
