LUCENA CITY, Quezon (PNA) — The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and the Provincial Government of Quezon forged a memorandum of agreement for Quezon’s adoption and implementation of the “Gender Responsive Environment and Natural Resources Enterprise” or GREEn Kit recently.
In a statement to the PNA here on Friday, the DENR said the “GREEn Kit will serve as a guide for aspiring entrepreneurs in creating an environmental enterprise.
The kit also contains continuing micro and small enterprises (SMEs) for gender responsive focal male and female business folk.
Manuel Escasura, DENR Regional Technical Director for Research. explained that the kit focuses on enterprise development in upland, lowland-urban and coastal ecosystems.
Like the common “to do” briefers, the kit provides information on running an environmental enterprise, methods of production for both materials and equipment, cost and expected profits, economic benefits, ecological implication, laws and restrictions.
Another important feature in the GREEn Kit is its “Gender Analysis” function which shows how men and women play their roles in specific aspects of running a business such time spent for working as well as activities undertaken for both genders’ safety and good health.
DENR and the Provincial Government – Environment and Natural Resources Office (PG-ENRO) partnered with the Provincial Gender and Development Office (PGAD) to implement the province-wide program in Quezon.
Signatories to the partnership agreement included Quezon Provincial Administrator Rommel Edano; Manny Calayag, Assistant PG-ENRO officer; Ofel Palayan, PGAD Focal Person and Forester II Nannette Joven as PENRO GAD Focal Person.
