5 judokas win golds in Myanmar pre-SEA Games tourney

MANILA, (PNA) — FIVE FILIPINO JUDOKAS WON GOLD MEDALS IN THEIR RESPECTIVE WEIGHT DIVISIONS ON THURSDAY’S FIRST DAY OF COMPETITION OF THE SOUTHEAST ASIA JUDO CHAMPIONSHIP OR PRE-SEA GAMES JUDO TOURNAMENT IN NAYPYITAW, MYANMAR.

VETERAN HELEN DAWA DOMINATED IN THE 48 KGS, GILBERT RAMIREZ IN THE 73 KGS, DENNIS LLOYD CATIPON IN THE 66 KGS, JANIELOU MOSQUEDA IN THE 57KGS AND BRYAN QUILLOTES IN THE 60 KGS.

THREE MORE GOLDS ARE EXPECTED TO BE WON BY THE PHILIPPINE JUDO TEAM AS FIL- JAPANESE PLAYERS KYOMI WATANABE,KODO NAKANO AND KENJI YAHATA ARE ALL FAVORITESIN THEIR RESPECTIVE WEIGHT DIVISIONS ON FRIDAY’S FINAL DAY OF ACTION.

THE GOLDS OF DAWA, CATIPON, MOSQUEDA, RAMIREZ AND QUILLOTES ARE EXPECTED TO BE ADDED TO THE PHILIPPINE CONTINGENT’S MEDAL PRODUCTION IN THIS YEAR’S 27TH SEA GAMES IN MYANMAR ON DEC 11-22, ACCORDING TO A RADIO DZSR REPORT.

THE TWO JUDOKAS WHO EARNED SLOTS IN THE MYANMAR BIENNIAL GAMES BASED ON THEIR GOLD AND SILVER MEDALS IN THE PREVIOUS INDONESIA SEA GAMES ARE NANCY QUILLOTES AND RUTH DUGA DUGA.

THE TOTAL NUMBER OF ATHLETES IN THE PHILIPPINE DELEGATION TO THE MYANMAR SEA GAMES OF 206 MAY NOW INCREASE WITH THE INCLUSION OF THE FIVE JUDOKA GOLD MEDALISTS.
