Iloilo City honors students in tax information drive

Posted on October 17, 2013

ILOILO CITY, (PNA) — The Office of the City Assessor, in coordination with the Office of the City Mayor, honored the top 10 senior high school students from 13 public high schools here in its campaign on tax information education.

Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog urged the students to participate in the tax info program as future leaders and tax payers of the country.

City Assessor Nelson Parreño said the 7th awarding ceremony focused on enhancing tax consciousness among high school students through the tax info drive.

Senior high students underwent a series of written examinations to determine their understanding and appreciation of taxes as ‘lifeblood of the nation’.

Parreño said the campaign is in line with the “womb to tomb” program of the city mayor to develop students’ tax consciousness in the different schools.

Assistant City Assessor Cheryl Chan said the program seeks to start the campaign among students by inculcating in them their obligation and responsibility in paying taxes to rev up the economic growth of the country.

The winners received cash incentives and certificate of recognition for the school.

The awardess were Ziber Jee Ysulat of SPED-ISEC, Jea Dell Casabuena of Melchor Nava Memorial National High School, Salvador Besares Jr. of Ramon Avanceña National High School, Sisel Shad Prislie Jalbuena of Jaro National High School, Patrick John Caspe of SPED-ISEC, Bless Aplagca of SPED-ISEC, Rhodz Shelle Sadia of La Paz National High School, Ricky John Baldoque of Jaro National High School, Patricia Arguelles of Melchor Nava National High School, and Dexter Dee Hasan-Gas of the Jalandoni Memorial National High School.
