MANILA, (PNA) — The Department of Health (DOH) and Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) spearheaded Thursday an orientation for the youth to encourage them to be role-models advocating the campaign against dangerous drugs.
According to Director Eduardo C. Janairo, DOH Center for Health Development-National Capital Region, the activity was intended to promote awareness among the youth particularly the students, student council leaders and Sangguniang Kabataan officials on the ways in the prevention and control of dangerous drugs that may destroy their future.
“We encourage the youth to get involve in worthwhile activities instead of getting hook to dangerous drugs that will just bring complication to their lives and future,” said Janairo during the event at the 5th floor of the City State Tower Hotel in Manila.
Janairo also told the participants from different schools in Metro Manila cities and municipalities that as future leaders who will constitute the productive members of society, every youth should have clearer vision on taking the right steps of saying no to harmful drugs or being drug dependent.
“We believe that it is from within all of you (referring to the youth) that the new generation of effective leaders will soon sprout, that is why it is most fitting to enjoin all of you to join us in the fight toward drug addiction,” he stressed.
He added though that he is not dictating the youth because in the end of it all, it is them (the youth) who will choose what directions to take.
“We (gov’t agencies), together with your parents were just here to guide and give all you a wider picture of what awaits for you by staying away dangerous drugs,” he said.
