BACOLOD CITY, (PNA) — Five secondary schools will represent Negros Occidental in the Statistics Quiz regional finals in Iloilo City on Oct. 25.
These are Doña Montserrat Lopez Memorial High School, which topped the provincial eliminations after besting 20 other schools during the quiz held Thursday at Eastview Hotel here.
The four others are Negros Occidental High School, Toboso National High School, La Castellana National High School and Himamaylan National High School.
The top five schools received certificates and cash prizes of P6,000, P5,000, P4,500, P4,000, and P3,500, respectively.
The 21 secondary schools were trimmed down to ten after the qualifying round. The final round determined the top five schools.
The board of judges was composed of Dean Felicidad Altalaguire and Jessamine Calma of Colegio San Agustin-Bacolod, and Febe Quinco.
First District Board Member Rolando Ponsica, chairman of committee on education, culture and arts, said he is glad to see young students understand and appreciate statistics.
