ILOILO CITY, (PNA) — Their defeat from the hands of the Chinese-Taipei during the opening game last Friday, Oct 11, at the Pana-ad Park and Stadium in Brgy. Mansilingan, Bacolod City served as an inspiration for the Philippine Team Azkals to win this year’s tourney and retain the Philippine Peace Cup championship crown.
Azkals coach Hans Michael Weiss said the defeat paved the way for the team to study and prepare well for the “do-or-die” game against Pakistan where they succeeded in winning the back to back championship title in a 3-1 score on Tuesday night before the jampacked crowd at the Pana-ad stadium as venue.
The all-out support on the part of avid fans and spectators alike who loudly cheered inside the Pana-ad stadium also served as motivation for the team to be aggressive inside the football field.
