SCJ Sereno guest of honor at 1st PACE Palarong Pambansa opening on Wednesday

MANILA, (PNA)— Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Ma. Lourdes P. A. Sereno will be the special guest of honor Wednesday at the opening ceremony of the Philippine Association of Court Employees’(PACE) 1st PACE Palarong Pambansa at 6 a.m. on Oct. 16-19 at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex, Vito Cruz, Manila.

Sereno will be introduced by Deputy Court Administrator Raul Villanueva while Philippine Sports Commission chairman Richie Garcia will give the inspirational message. The lighting of the torch will be performed by Atty. Virginia Coloma-Rafael, PACE national president, assisted by national sports officers

The program proper starts at 8 a.m. with the parade of colors, of athletes and delegations from 17 regions nationwide, Doxology and national anthem by the NCR choral group, Judiciary Hymn/Supreme Court Hymn and an audio visual presentation.

Opening remarks will be delivered by Eddie H Saracaniao, chairman of the 1st PACE Palarong Pambansa, while the oath of sportsmanship will be administered by Atty. Coloma-Rafael, overall chairman Declaration of the Pace Palaro will be by Atty. Perlita V Ele, PACE national legal adviser .

The cheering squad competition comes next with chairman Lydia M Malate followed by the handing of special awards and picture-taking with Sereno, according to assistant treasurer Josephine Montemayor Labitoria.

A PHILJA lecture will be given by vice president for Visayas Belinda Go, then the dance sport competition headed by Atty. Monalisa Buencamino and Lydia Malate before the awarding and closing ceremonies.

Events to be contested are basketball, volleyball, table tennis, lawn tennis, swimming, darts, chess, cheering squad, dance sport,track and field, amazing race, badminton and bowling.
