MANILA, (PNA) -– Not one among the 37 municipalities of earthquake-stricken Bohol province is isolated, Interior and Local Government Secretary Manuel Roxas II said Thursday as he assured that government relief operations will reach out to affected residents.
Roxas, in a broadcast interview, assured that relief operations – including food distribution and medical services — will reach all the affected people of Bohol.
”There is not one municipality isolated among the 37 towns in Bohol. There is not one isolated but there is only additional inconvenience because in some towns, there is one hour additional travel time,” said Roxas.
”Food items will be there and the doctors if necessary, and they (affected residents) can travel to Tagbilaran if they needed to,” added Roxas.
So far, Roxas said that supplies continued to come to Bohol as he maintained that the present inventory of food items, like rice, canned goods and even fish, in the province can last for two weeks.
Roxas, who is also vice chairman of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), said that even the supply on petroleum products –diesel, kerosene and gasoline, remained stable in Bohol.
The DILG chief urged the public not to go into panic-buying and reminded business owners not to hoard.
”The supplies are coming continuously. We should not believe in panic buying,” said Roxas.
