KUALA LUMPUR, (PNA/Bernama) — Malaysia’s number two, Low Wee Wern booked her berth in the semi-finals of the 2013 US Open squash championship in Philadelphia, Wednesday.
In a quarter-final match held at the glass court of Drexel University’s Kline and Specter Squash Center, the 23-year-old world number six escaped a five-set thriller against world number three, Raneem El Weleily of Egypt on 7-11, 11-8, 7-11, 11-9 and 11-8 which lasted for 66 minutes.
“It’s definitely one of my best wins, but there was no pressure on me going into the match, so I just had to stick in and that seemed to work in my favour today,” said Wee Wern, as quoted in the tournament’s official website, www.usopensquash.com.
She will be meeting world number two, Laura Massaro of England in the semi-finals.
Laura booked her berth in the last four after defeating Australia’s Kasey Brown in a four-set match which lasted 55 minutes with 10-12, 11-4, 11-8 and 11-5.
