MANILA, (PNA) — The death toll for the 7.2 magnitude earthquake that struck Central Visayas has almost reached to 90, the PNP official said on Tuesday.
In a text message to Philippine News Agency (PNA), Regional Director of Police Regional Office (PRO)-7 Chief Supt. Danilo Constantino said that as of 6 p.m. , the fatalities recorded reached 87 persons broken down to 77 in Bohol, nine in Cebu and one in Siquijor.
He added that 216 persons were injured and three missing persons in Bohol.
Constantino also reported that nine landslides were recorded in Bohol while one each in Cebu and Siquijor.
Meanwhile, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), on its 5 p.m. updathats said that power outages are still reported in Bohol, Iloilo, Cadiz City, and some areas of the CARAGA Region.
Balido added that 20 passengers are reported stranded in Tagbilaran Port.
Major Rey Balido, NDRRMC spokesperson, said that the Sagbayan town hall in Bohol was totally damaged.
Also damaged were the Cebu-based offices and buildings of the Department of Education and Department of Trade and Industry.
Balido also pointed out that the Department of Social Welfare and Development Office in Boljoon, Cebu totally collapsed due to the tremor.
Severely damaged was the Cong. Castillo Memorial Hospital in Cebu.
