DOLE establishes another skills registry system in Nueva Vizcaya

Posted on October 14, 2013

DUPAX DEL NORTE, Nueva Vizcaya, (PNA) — The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in partnership with the local government unit recently put up another Skills Registry System (SRS) in this town to assist job seekers for local and overseas employment.

Through a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed between DOLE regional director Sixto Rodriguez Jr. and mayor Tony Palugod, a set of computer equipped with the SRS software operating system was turned-over to operationalize the SRS.

This town is the fifth recipient of DOLE’s SRS project in the province, along with the local government units of Solano, Villaverde, Aritao and Sta. Fe.

“This will cater to employment demands and requirements of local and international agencies and companies,” said Engr. Henry Balangatan, DOLE district officer.

The SRS project is one of the important components of employment facilitation for both local and overseas employment opportunities.

“This will serve as a repository device of the SRS database which will be maintained by the LGU’s Public Employment Service Office (PESO) through the support of all barangay officials considering that they are the support arm of the project,” he added.

The SRS project aims to establish and maintain a continuing nationwide manpower skills registration system to enhance the databank of manpower supply that can be easily accessed by clients, to harmonize database of DOLE including its attached agencies such as the Bureau of Labor Employment (BLE), Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA), Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), Philippine Regulations Commission(PRC), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and Commission on Higher Education(CHED) and to strengthen the current system of register of labor demands from employers.

SRS project aims to saturate all LGUs nationwide to strengthen the establishment of a national manpower register of skills as a means of providing adequate and available supply of labor when needed.
