ILOILO CITY, (PNA) — Twelve fire victims in two separate incidents here received financial assistance from Iloilo City government through the City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD) Monday morning.
Fire incidents were reported in the villages of Bolilao in Mandurriao district on September 9 and in Magsaysay, La Paz district on September 22.
Out of the 12 affected houses, three houses were destroyed while eight houses were damaged.
Totally burned houses were owned by Mae Jondonero and Herna Cabaluna of Barangay Bolilao, and by Leonora Esforma of Barangay Magsaysay.
Other victims were identified as Nora Lo, Zalde Malijan, Genevieve Gabayoyo, Dorita Valla, Anabelle Analista, Roland Malijan, Teresita Echavarri and Lucia Posa, all of Barangay Magsaysay.
Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog said victims whose houses were totally burned received P5,000 each while P2,500 each were given to those with partially damaged houses.
“This is the financial assistance we are extending to fire victims so they can start building their houses again,” he said.
Jondonero thanked the mayor for helping them.
“The money given to me is already a big help for us to buy some materials needed to rebuild our house,” she said.
