CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, (PNA) -– About 70 members of the Provincial Board Members League of the Philippines (PBMLP) in Northern Mindanao will likely tackle current reforms in local government during the regional convention here starting Monday.
Myrna Romarate, PBMLP national president, said that the three-day convention hosted by the province of Misamis Oriental would culminate on Wednesday with top officials of the Department of Interior and Local Government and the Office of the President expected to join.
She said that the annual gathering was held to foster unity among elected members of the provincial board members comprising the province of Northern Mindanao.
Northern Mindanao comprises the provinces of Misamis Oriental, Camiguin, Bukidnon, Lanao del Norte and Misamis Occidental.
Misamis Oriental provincial board member Heckert Emano said that the convention expects the PBMLP to adopt common resolution intended to alleviate the status of the region in the field of economy and social endeavor.
He said that the occasion also provides a venue where elected provincial governors and vice governors usually hold a very rare meeting that would have a lasting imprint of regional cooperation and unity.
Bebeng Dumadag, a neophyte provincial board, said she was excited since the PBMLP meets only once every three years during the term of office of the elected provincial board.
She said that the participants in the three-day convention will likely tackle current reforms in the local government with top interior and government officials explaining various approaches in local governance.
