MANILA, July 30 (PNA) — The British Chamber of Commerce Philippines (BCCP) said more United Kingdom-based companies are interested in the Philippine market.
“There’s high degree of interest for British companies in the Philippines,” BCCP Chair Chris Nelson said in a press briefing on Thursday.
“There’s lot of interest. Lot of companies is scouting for opportunities here,” Nelson added.
He mentioned that the country’s economic growth makes more British companies to explore the Philippine market.
To increase the awareness of British firms in doing business in the Philippines, the BCCP sets two trade missions before the year ends.
Nelson said there will be British companies coming to Manila in September and November who will meet government officials, particularly with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), as well as their business counterparts.
Among the sectors British firms are interested in the local market include business process outsourcing, financial sector, and distribution among others.
He, however, mentioned that one of the challenges in doing business in the country is the local regulations.
“Easier regulations in putting up a business will be more attractive for these companies,” he noted. (PNA)
