A project of the OFW-Shien Cooperative, the Filipino International Weekend School in Japan held its First Recognition Day last March 30, 2008. After singing the Philippine National Anthem and reciting the Panatang Makabayan (Patriotic Oath) : Iniibig ko ang Pilipinas, ito ang aking lupang sinilangan ... which touched the hearts of all Filipinos present the children sang a favorite children's song, the Bahay Kubo. The guest of honor was no other than First Secretary and Consul General Sulpicio M. Confiado of the Philippine Embassy.
